“The value of generative AI is not confined to what appears on a display. It is only when AI gains a physical form through robotics that it can unlock its power to transform the real world. This is what we call ‘Physical AI.’ Because much of our social infrastructure has been designed around humans, we believe humanoid robots offer the most compatible solution—one that enables us to leverage existing environments rather than replace them. By bringing together the Group’s expertise in communications, cloud, security, and finance, GMO AIR will serve as a bridge between Japanese companies and the world’s most advanced humanoid robotics industry and will lead the way in driving its implementation in society.”

[Background]

GMO AIR concluded this authorized distributor agreement in Japan with Unitree Robotics as a partner to accelerate the social implementation of humanoids based on the perspectives below.

1. Expansion of the Physical AI Market

As generative AI continues to evolve, attention is increasingly shifting toward “physical AI”—AI systems that are embodied and capable of interacting with the real world. Potential use cases are emerging across a broad range of industries, including logistics, manufacturing, facility management, construction, and airport operations. Against this backdrop, the development and real-world deployment of humanoid robots are accelerating globally.

2. Why Humanoids

GMO AIR is focusing on humanoid robots as a key area within the broader robotics field.

This focus is based on the fact that much of today’s society has been designed around the human body. Buildings, doors, stairs, desks, chairs, home appliances, automobiles, and many other forms of social infrastructure are built on the assumption that they will be used by people.

For this reason, GMO AIR believes that humanoid robots, which share a body structure similar to that of humans, offer exceptional compatibility with existing society. Because they can operate in environments already designed for people, humanoids have the potential to be introduced without requiring major modifications to buildings, facilities, or everyday infrastructure.

3. Why GMO AIR

Social implementation of humanoids requires more than simply selling robot units. It also requires wide-ranging support, including identifying on-site challenges, designing implementation plans, developing motions, integrating systems, operating and maintaining robots, and verifying safety.

By combining its expertise in AI and robotics with GMO Internet Group’s infrastructure offerings—including communications, cloud, and security—and financial services, GMO AIR provides comprehensive support for the environment required for implementation. In addition, GMO AIR ensures a secure operating environment through robust security monitoring by world-class white-hat hackers and other security experts.

Furthermore, GMO AIR believes that the expansion of the humanoid market will become a new growth opportunity for Japan's manufacturing industry. Important components in the world's most advanced humanoids already make use of many components and technologies created through the advanced engineering capabilities of Japanese companies. Meanwhile, full-scale participation in the humanoid industry in Japan remains limited, and these capabilities are not yet being fully utilized.

GMO AIR will introduce world-leading humanoids into Japan and serve as a bridge between Japanese companies and the humanoid industry, contributing to the development of Japan-originated technologies and services.

Unitree Robotics humanoid

Unitree Robotics is a world-class robotics manufacturer founded in Hangzhou, China, in 2016. The company opened the global market with its quadruped robots "Go2" and "B2" and has also launched humanoids including "H1," "G1," and "R1." In 2025, it ranked No. 1 worldwide in humanoid shipments. By combining high mobility performance with mass-production technologies and outstanding cost performance, Unitree Robotics is one of the world's most widely used humanoid manufacturers, from R&D to commercial applications.

Under this initiative, GMO AIR will handle Unitree Robotics' major products, including the humanoids "G1" and "H1," as well as the quadruped robots "Go2" and "B2." From R&D to proof-of-concept demonstrations and business use, GMO AIR will propose the optimal robot model according to each customer's needs.

[GMO AIR's Initiatives to Date]

GMO AIR has already adopted Unitree Robotics' humanoid "G1" for its own services and has accumulated expertise in motion development through reinforcement learning and field operations toward the social implementation of humanoids. Its main initiatives are as follows.

1. Humanoid Dispatch Service

Humanoid Dispatch Service by GMO AIR

Beyond use at exhibitions and events, GMO AIR offers humanoid dispatch for PoC (proof-of-concept) applications. This enables customers to begin demonstrations at their own sites without purchasing a robot, while allowing GMO AIR to accumulate field-operation knowledge across a wide range of industries.

4. Demonstration Experiment with the JAL Group

Demonstration Experiment with the JAL Group

In collaboration with JAL Ground Service Co., Ltd., GMO AIR has begun Japan's first demonstration experiment utilizing humanoids at an airport, at Haneda Airport. This marks a first step toward social implementation aimed at labor-saving and efficiency improvements in ground-handling operations such as the loading and unloading of baggage and cargo.

In the aviation industry, which faces serious labor shortages, GMO AIR aims to build a more stable operating structure by introducing humanoids that can operate 24 hours a day.
